• Politics: The 'Moncloa operation', on the way to failure also in Castilla y León

  • The future of the party: The renewal of the PP: Genoa is strengthened to impose its candidates on the 'barons' after saving Murcia

Ciudadanos today faces a new resistance test in Castilla y León with the debate on the motion of censure that the PSOE registered against the Government of PP and Ciudadanos, in which only the support of four orange attorneys can make it prosper.

The march last Friday of one of them, María Montero, to the mixed group introduced more tension to a movement that was expected to be lost in advance due to the lack of the necessary support.

But the forecast is that there will be no more leaks and that it be rejected, with the votes against the two partners of the Executive and Vox, the abstention of Por Ávila and Unión del Pueblo Leonés and probably also by the former Cs.

Valladolid lives one of the many replications generated by the presentation of the motion of censure in Murcia, a movement that led the socialist leader Luis Tudanca to replicate the operation in Castilla y León, in his case without previously having Cs.

In Murcia Inés Arrimadas allied with Moncloa to break the pact with the PP and dismount Fernando López Miras from the Government but finally the appearance of three defectors from Cs and the agreement of the popular with Vox, who will enter the Murcian Executive, has Failed.

In Castilla y León they did not even give the numbers and even so it was registered, after several weeks of runrún, and in the expectation of a general agreement between the Socialists and Cs, that the electoral advance in Madrid frustrated.

Despite all these prolegomena, Tudanca has defended his decision as an isolated fact of national politics, linked only to the situation in Castilla y León and the breaches of the president of the PP, Alfonso Fernández Mañueco, and his vice president of Cs, Francisco Igea, to the survival of systemic corruption, the result of more than three decades of popular government, and the management of the pandemic.

They have done just the opposite.

Attributing it to "an order from Ferraz" within "a convulsion strategy", said Mañueco.

A "motion of censure from La Moncloa", according to Igea, and that obeys "a game that is played outside" and that arises from the "interest" of Pedro Sánchez to get rid of the independentists and "make the bear hug" to Cs .

The PSOE has shaken off all these criticisms and has argued that it is "ruling against the people" and that "citizenship is abandoned."

These are the arguments offered by Ana María Sánchez, secretary of the Organization of the Socialists of Castilla y León, vice president of Parliament, and the person who defended the motion in a first intervention.

"It is not an act of destabilization to the Government, but a guarantee of control."

"It is not an electoral motion because we already beat them at the polls," referring to the fact that the PSOE was the most voted force in the 2019 elections.

Against this speech Igea has opposed the attempts of the Socialists to win the vote with "obscene maneuvering", in which they "promised positions."

"Soon it will be known the things that you have done this week."

"How are they going to govern if it is not with turncoats," President Mañueco asked in his speech.

"It is hidden behind the interests of Sánchez."

Tudanca has assured that the motion of censure would not have been presented "if you had behaved differently, if you had complied with the agreements, if you had not stained everything with your corruption" and has recalled decisions such as the unilateral reform of the Statute of Autonomy.

He has argued that the support of Cs would mean the way to return to the electoral result, where the sum of both would have allowed to evict the PP.

"Another Castilla y León is possible, the one that people voted for, that's what we're at stake today."

"This is their last chance to be true to who they once wanted to be."

And against the accusations that it is Moncloa who is behind his decision and the attempts to attract orange turncoats, he has pointed out that it was in 2019 when everything was done "from Madrid", referring to the fact that it was Albert Rivera who imposed to Igea the pact with the PP.

The conformation of Inés Arrimadas herself that Cs would not break the agreement has allowed Mañueco to reaffirm the stability of his Government and even announce new measures such as the abolition in the coming weeks of the Inheritance and Donations Tax.

Furthermore, against Isabel Díaz Ayuso's decision to call early elections on May 4, he has reinforced his commitment to Cs because "my word is the best asset that I can leave to my daughters."

Igea has also solidified its understanding with the PP, with the defense that they have contributed to modify and improve its way of governing.

In a message addressed to the attorneys of Cs, he explained that "we are not a hinge between two things, but a lever to change things."

"These are difficult days for our party," he acknowledged, but "if citizens see us as agents of instability, they will never trust us again."
