Bielefeld (dpa) - tons of chemicals, a well for cooling, dozens of gas bottles: only days later it became clear what was behind a cable fire in a warehouse in Preussisch Oldendorf (North Rhine-Westphalia) in April 2019 - a huge drug laboratory.

The trial of the criminal project in the Minden-Lübbecke district begins today, Monday, at the Bielefeld Regional Court.

Five men from Rödinghausen (31) and Preußisch Oldenburg (39) as well as from the Netherlands (37, 41 and 59) are accused.

The public prosecutor's office accuses the two Germans of running a drug laboratory on an industrial scale.

According to the indictment, raw materials for synthetic drugs such as speed should be produced in the hall.

This work - the production of amphetamine oil - is said to have been done by the three men from the Netherlands.

Eight more trial days are scheduled until May 20th.
