Tübingen (dpa / lsw) - Despite the recent irregularities in the acceptance of corona rapid tests, the city of Tübingen has given the green light to continue its model project, which has received much attention nationwide.

There are still many problems to be solved, according to the city in an interim report from Mayor Boris Palmer (Greens), the pandemic officer Lisa Federle and the infectious agent Peter Kremsner to the Ministry of Social Affairs.

The interim conclusion of the "Opening with Safety" project is nevertheless positive and it is recommended that the test model be continued.

The project phase should last until April 4th.

In the course of the past week, 29,473 tests were carried out at the test stations of the German Red Cross and private partners, 75 of which were positive - but only initially.

Because it has been shown that some outdoor stations have sent a relatively high number of people into quarantine, although they may not have been positive at all, the city said.

The low outside temperatures would have an impact on the reliability of the tests.

So far, around 40 positive rapid tests have proven to be false.

The city is assuming a total of almost 30 cases of infection, which will ultimately be confirmed in the PCR test.

One infected person is discovered out of 1000 people tested, said Federle.

"It shows again that with preventive tests you can find people who infect others without even knowing it."

The model project will significantly slow down the spread of the virus.

In Tübingen, a model project has been in effect for more than a week to open up more steps in corona times.

At several test stations, people can take free tests and the result is certified.

You can use it in shops or at the hairdresser's.

But outdoor restaurants and cultural institutions are also allowed to receive and serve guests with certificates.
