CCTV reporter learned from China National Nuclear Corporation that at 12:36 on March 22, 2021, Peng Shilu, a famous Chinese nuclear power expert, the first chief designer of China's nuclear submarine, an old leader of the nuclear industry, a science and technology consultant of China National Nuclear Corporation, and an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, was in Beijing. Passed away at the age of 96.

  Peng Shilu was born in Haifeng County, Shanwei City, Guangdong Province in 1925. He joined the Communist Party of China in 1945 and was elected an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering in 1994.

Served as Deputy Minister and Chief Engineer of the Ministry of Shipbuilding Industry, Deputy Minister and Chief Engineer of the Ministry of Water and Electricity, and Chief Engineer of the Ministry of Nuclear Industry.

He has won the National Science Conference Award, the highest award of the He Liang He Li Foundation, and the "Guanghua Engineering Science and Technology Achievement Award".

  He is the first chief designer of China’s nuclear submarine, presided over the design and construction of China’s first nuclear submarine, realized the historic breakthrough of China’s nuclear submarine from scratch, presided over and guided the continuous development of China’s nuclear power technology, and initiated the independent design and construction of China’s nuclear power plants. Promote the sustainable development of nuclear power in China, push China’s first nuclear power plant to adopt the pressurized water reactor route, organize the introduction of China’s first million-kilowatt nuclear power plant-Daya Bay Nuclear Power Plant, and organize the construction of the first commercial large-scale nuclear power plant-Qinshan Phase II Nuclear Power, Advice and suggestions to guide the sustainable development of China's nuclear power technology.
