Dresden (dpa / sn) - The Saxon teachers' association raises allegations to the state government in an open letter and calls for more to be done for safety at schools in the corona pandemic.

"They are opening schools for face-to-face teaching without having created all the minimum requirements for the safety of employees and students at this point in time," said the letter to the Ministry of Education and Social Affairs and the State School Office published on Sunday.

The teachers' union demands, among other things, short-term vaccination offers for all employees of all types of schools.

In addition, there must be regular corona tests in primary schools.

The teachers' association criticized particularly sharply that the obligation to test for older students was directly undermined by a self-assessment.

In Saxony, it is also sufficient if the parents confirm that their children have tested negative.

"In this way you give stubborn test refusers a triumph, open them access to school and expose students and teachers to unnecessary risk!" Said the fire letter.

Education Minister Christian Piwarz had defended the self-disclosure last week.

One does not want to treat all families with suspicion.

However, should abuse be found, this would be prosecuted, said the CDU politician.

The teachers' association, however, demanded an immediate abolition of self-disclosure.
