Munich (dpa / lby) - The Protestant Church in Bavaria cuts an average of ten percent of all jobs financed by the regional church.

This will be determined by the regional synod in its spring meeting in the coming days in its resolution for a new regional office plan.

Positions of pastors, religious educators, deacons and church musicians are affected.

The regional church announced that the number of positions should be “adapted to the changed number of church members”.

In addition, the 108 members of the synod will deal with the question of what consequences the corona pandemic has for the Protestant Church in Bavaria.

The conference under the heading “Faith in Vulnerable Times” will take place again as a video conference because of the epidemic and should last until Thursday.

The synod is one of four governing organs of the Bavarian regional church.

It is elected for a period of six years and has extensive powers, decides on the budget of the regional church, passes laws and elects the regional bishop.
