Gelsenkrichen (dpa) - Ralf Rangnick's rejection of the relegation-threatened Bundesliga club FC Schalke is definitive.

Accordingly, the conversation with Rangnicks advisor announced by Schalke's supervisory board chairman Jens Buchta for Monday will no longer take place.

The German press agency found out on Sunday from Rangnicks environment.

The background for the cancellation of Rangnick, who should become head of sport at the bottom of the table, are therefore "indiscretions of both groups" on Schalke.

Most recently, a group of representatives and politicians, which also includes the former Schalke professional Ingo Anderbrügge, put vehement pressure on the supervisory board around Buchta and called for Rangnick to return.

The 62-year-old had already trained the Royal Blues twice.

The supervisory board was also willing to oblige Rangnick.

Last Thursday, Buchta and Rangnicks advisor Marc Kosicke met for an initial meeting.

On Saturday lunchtime, Rangnick canceled Schalke a few hours before the 0: 3 in the evening against Borussia Mönchengladbach.

"It cannot be that half of Schalke knows about the talks," said the Rangnick side on Sunday.

Accordingly, Buchta was informed on Saturday that there would be no more conversation on Monday.

Buchta himself had stated on the sidelines of the game against Gladbach that he wanted to speak to Kosicke again on Monday in order to “sound out everything again”.
