Dortmund (AP) - A twelve-year-old climbed into a parcel box in Dortmund and had to be freed by the fire department.

Three children had played at the packing station, as the fire brigade announced on Sunday morning.

The twelve-year-old got into a parcel box on Saturday evening, the other two of the same age locked the box "and entered a shipping code," it said.

According to the fire brigade, the parcel compartment could no longer be opened by an employee of the packing station.

The emergency services freed the trapped boy.

He was therefore unharmed.

As a rule, the parcel compartments are not just open, explained the fire department.

Nevertheless, the children managed to open a compartment by «pushing around wildly on the display».

There was a similar case in Wuppertal last weekend.

There a child had crawled into a packing station while playing and was no longer able to free itself.
