Augsburg (dpa / lby) - The Catholic Bishop of Augsburg Bertram Meier has reiterated his warning against so-called "lateral thinkers".

"Abuse of religion, instrumentalization of religious symbols - I'm not doing it," said Meier of the "Augsburger Allgemeine" (Monday edition).

The bishop announced resistance to this, especially for Easter.

"If that should happen - for example during Holy Week or on Good Friday - I'll take the liberty of saying: Not like that with me," said Meier.

The Evangelical Lutheran regional bishop in the Augsburg and Swabian church district also distanced himself from the movement in a newspaper podcast.

“What annoys me about lateral thinkers is this from the outset bad acceptance of the other,” explained Axel Piper.

Nobody has the whole truth.

The sect representative of the Protestant regional church, Matthias Pöhlmann, had already warned a few weeks ago that the movement would use it as an instrument.

Throughout Germany, “lateral thinkers” regularly demonstrate against the measures in the pandemic.

Last year the movement registered some protests as church services and set up crosses.
