The high-level talks between the United States and China, which had been in a wild war, ended with only clear differences in positions.

In the future, it was foretelling a tough relationship between the two countries, and it showed the possibility of cooperation in the issue of climate change with North Korea.

This is a report from Beijing Correspondent Song Wook.

<Reporter> At the

first day of the meeting, the heads of diplomatic missions between the US and China, who had sharply confronted them by exchanging harsh words, stepped into the last meeting with a somewhat softened expression.

[Yang Zetsu / Chinese Communist Party diplomatic officer: (Did you take a good break?) Very good.]

Since it was the first meeting between the two countries since the inauguration of US President Biden, there was no joint statement.

Instead, the two sides pulled out a variety of agendas and discussed each other in a straightforward manner, confirming their differences.

The United States has clearly conveyed the stance of allied pressure on China,

[Tony Blincoln/US Secretary of State: We have communicated to China our concerns over China's actions and actions, and the concerns we share with our allies and partners.]

China has made it clear that it has no intention of withdrawing from its core interests such as Taiwan and Hong Kong.

[Yang Jietsu / Chinese Communist Party Diplomatic Officer: We will firmly uphold the national sovereignty, security, and development interests.]

Still, the possibility of cooperation remains.

China's state-run Xinhua News Agency reported that the two countries decided to form a joint working group on climate change and strengthen communication on the Korean Peninsula, Iran's nuclear weapons, and Myanmar issues.

It can be interpreted as reflecting China's desire to improve relations with the Biden administration, which will combine confrontation, competition, and cooperation.

After the exploration battle, the US and China will meet with Europe and Russia next week, respectively, to strengthen alliances and check each other.
