With regard to the occurrence of blood clots in some of the AstraZeneca (AZ) COVID-19 vaccinations, the global medical community has begun work on the cause through several hypotheses.

Along with claims that vaccination triggers rare antibody formation, leading to blood clots, some suggest that oral contraceptives may be the cause.

According to Reuters, to date, at least 18 cases of blood clots have been reported in the brain after vaccination with AstraZeneca.

Based on the information gathered so far, the European Medicines Agency has concluded tentatively that AstraZeneca vaccine is not associated with an increased overall risk of blood clots, but has not completely ruled out an association with a condition known as cerebral venous thrombosis.
