Erfurt (dpa / th) - The number is rising and rising and a decline is not in sight: According to figures from the Robert Koch Institute, Thuringia has exceeded the 200 threshold in the so-called seven-day incidence.

On Saturday, the Robert Koch Institute reported 201 new infections per 100,000 inhabitants within seven days for the Free State.

This means that the characteristic value for Thuringia was the highest among the federal states.

It was the second highest in Saxony with 134, nationwide it was 100. The previous day in Thuringia the value was 187. The incidence in the Free State has been increasing for some time.

"The situation is worrying, but was to be expected against the background of developments in recent days," said a government spokesman on Saturday.

The cabinet will meet on Tuesday and, against the background of the high number and the results of the round between the Prime Minister and Chancellor Angela Merkel (CDU), will discuss how to proceed on Monday.

The existing Corona ordinances for Thuringia initially remained in place.

For individual counties, further consideration may be needed, the spokesman said.

The district of Greiz is particularly badly affected, where a curfew was issued on Wednesday so that residents are only allowed to leave the house for good reason.

There, around 568 new infections per 100,000 inhabitants were found within seven days on Saturday.

On Friday the value was around 534. The Wartburg district (347) and the Saale-Orla district (333) also had high incidences.

And the district of Schmalkalden-Meiningen (299) and the cities of Gera (295) and Eisenach (275) were also approaching the 300 mark.

The districts of Greiz, Wartburgkreis, Saale-Orla-Kreis and Schmalkalden-Meiningen are to receive an additional 7500 vaccine doses from a special contingent of the European Union on Friday after consultation with the federal and state governments.

So far, 3,187 people have died in Thuringia in whom the corona virus was detected.
