Appointed in July to Culture

The 74-year-old minister was appointed in July to head the ministry, succeeding Franck Riester.

Franck Riester, now Deputy Minister in charge of foreign trade, had also contracted the virus when he was Minister of Culture, in March 2020. Another French minister affected, that of the Economy, Bruno Le Maire, last September.

More recently, the Minister of Labor Elisabeth Borne indicated last week that she had tested positive for Covid-19.

Since arriving rue de Valois, Roselyne Bachelot has had to deal in particular with the fallout from the health crisis on the cultural world, including museums, cinema and performing arts, paralyzed since October 30.
