Mainz / Berlin (dpa / lrs) - The number of daily new corona infections in Rhineland-Palatinate continues to rise.

The state investigation office named on Saturday a value of 73.9 infections per 100,000 inhabitants in the past seven days.

The previous day the incidence value was 73.2.

The health authorities in the state and the Robert Koch Institute in Berlin reported on Saturday of 621 newly infected people within 24 hours (as of 12:02 p.m.).

According to this, 7041 people in Rhineland-Palatinate were demonstrably infected with the Sars-CoV-2 pathogen.

Eleven patients died with or from the virus.

The total number of deaths was 3,254.

The highest incidence was in the Altenkirchen district of 156.8.

It was followed by the city of Frankenthal (141.5) and Ludwigshafen (143.4).

According to the health authorities, the lowest incidence was in the Cochem-Zell district with 8.1.

In Mainz it was 66.3.

Since the pandemic began in Rhineland-Palatinate at the end of February 2020, there has been evidence that 109,627 people in the state have been infected with Sars-CoV-2.
