Jean Castex received a first dose of AstraZeneca on Friday March 19 at the Bégin Army instruction hospital in Saint-Mandé (Val-de-Marne), in the presence of the press.

Anxious to reassure the population after fears aroused by the AstraZeneca vaccine, suspected of causing serious adverse effects, Jean Castex announced Thursday that he would be vaccinated through this serum, on the occasion of the announcement the confinement of 16 departments to fight against the coronavirus.

The European Medicines Agency (EMA) said Thursday that AstraZeneca's vaccine was "safe and effective".

Several European countries which had suspended the use of the vaccine, including France, announced that it would be administered again from this Friday.
