More than a month after the disappearance of Magali Blandin in Montfort-sur-Meu near Rennes, investigators are now moving towards the criminal track.

"The investigations made it possible to update a criminal project targeting Magali Blandin drawn up in the fall of 2020", the Rennes public prosecutor said late Thursday in a statement.

Earlier today, the investigation had several twists and turns.

Three people of Georgian origin arrested on Sunday for an attempted extortion targeting the husband of the forty-something were indicted, including one for murder in an organized gang.

"The elements collected attest to an attempt at extortion which they say, however, unrelated to the disappearance of Magali Blandin but linked to a simple debt of her husband," said the prosecution.

The ex-spouse of the disappeared had explained to investigators that he "felt threatened" and that he had been "the victim of an attempted extortion for a sum of 15,000 euros" on February 25.

Strong tensions within the couple

The latter was also arrested early Thursday afternoon and placed in police custody as part of the investigation.

A man in his forties, neighbor of the husband of Magali Blandin's husband, was also arrested Tuesday near Cherbourg on a search warrant from the investigating magistrate.

"It is now necessary to specify the terms of this criminal project and the role of all the protagonists who were able to participate in it", added the prosecutor Philippe Astruc, who should communicate more on the case at the end of the custody. .

At the start of the investigation, the husband had been exonerated by the gendarmes who had analyzed his schedule and his movements.

“Checks were made with the husband.

They did not reveal, in the state, no element associating it with this disappearance or suggesting its presence in Montfort-sur-Meu at the time of the facts ”, explained the parquet floor at the end of February.

The investigation had however revealed "strong tensions" within the couple, in particular on the subject of the question of resources.
