Berlin (dpa / bb) - Health Senator Dilek Kalayci (SPD) has appealed to Berliners to be vaccinated with Astrazeneca.

After the short-term vaccination stop, the preparation was checked again by the European Medicines Agency (EMA), “that creates trust again”, and Astrazeneca will be vaccinated again from Friday, the Senator said in the morning on the Rbb's Inforadio.

Berlin has prepared well for this.

People whose vaccination appointment had missed in the past few days should come, they could now go without an appointment, said Kalayci.

At the weekend, the vaccination centers work longer.

"We still have a lot of air when it comes to scheduling," said the SPD politician.

There are a lot of people who are entitled to vaccinate Astrazeneca in the city - such as nurses, doctors, educators, teachers, people over 70 - "I can only say: please book appointments".

The vaccine had acceptance problems in Germany from the start, but it was highly efficient.

In her own words, the senator wants to get vaccinations in the doctor's offices to start in April.

Trust is even higher there because doctors know their patients and possible risks.

Doctors should then be able to order the vaccine directly from pharmacies, which comes from the federal government.

"I hope it really comes in early April."

The announced increase in the vaccine should go directly to the doctor's office.

The EMA announced on Thursday that Astrazeneca was safe.

In general, the benefits outweigh the risks.

The granting of the vaccine was suspended in Germany on Tuesday to examine side effects.

An extra warning of possible rare blood clots (thromboses) in cerebral veins should now be included in the case of possible side effects.
