Regarding the Tokai No. 2 Nuclear Power Station in Ibaraki Prefecture, Chief Cabinet Secretary Kato worked closely with the relevant local governments in connection with the Mito District Court's decision not to allow restarting due to inadequate evacuation plans. He continued to express his intention to work on enhancing and strengthening the regional nuclear disaster prevention system.

On the 18th, the Mito District Court ruled that the Tokai No. 2 Nuclear Power Station of Japan Atomic Power Company in Ibaraki Prefecture would not be allowed to restart due to an inadequate evacuation plan.



Regarding this, Chief Cabinet Secretary Kato said at a press conference after the Cabinet meeting, "Since the country is not a direct party, I would like to refrain from commenting on the decision."



On the other hand, regarding the nuclear disaster prevention system, Ibaraki Prefecture and related ministries and agencies are participating in the framework, and we are working on the implementation and enhancement of evacuation plans formulated by related local governments, such as securing evacuation destination facilities, evacuation vehicles, and evacuation routes. I explained.



On top of that, Chief Cabinet Secretary Kato said, "The evacuation plan is important for the safety and security of local residents. We will continue to work closely with the relevant local governments and the government to take the lead in enhancing and strengthening the nuclear disaster prevention system in the region." Said.
