In 2019, Luleå University of Technology received 65 disciplinary cases.

Last year, the number rose to 83 and 34 students were suspended.

A further 13 were warned and 36 cases were dismissed.

- We see it throughout university Sweden that it is the changed exam that is behind the increase, says Jennie Hägg Wilhelmsson, head of student services at LTU.

Uncertainty about legally secure monitoring

Jennie Hägg Wilhelmsson does not believe that they will fully return to the hall exam that was valid before the pandemic.

However, there is still great uncertainty as to how digital exams should be monitored and how this can be done in a legally secure manner.

Every year, students in Luleå write between 40,000 and 50,000 exams.

- Then the number of disciplinary matters that come to us is not very huge in relation to how many exams are written.

But it is a problem and above all a problem for the individual who does not acquire that knowledge so that they reach the course objectives, says Jennie Hägg Wilhelmsson.
