- We are strengthening intensive care capacity and increasing the number of covid-IVA places to four instead of three.

The situation is again very serious, says CEO Christophe Pedroletti in a press release.

Reinforcement mode means that the special health care management, among other things, secures access to care places, care staff, materials and protective equipment.

It also means that other advanced care may again need to be moved forward further for the benefit of covid patients.

On Thursday morning, 32 patients were admitted for covid-19 at Södertälje hospital, of which four at covid-IVA.

Seven inpatients are waiting for test results.

Why do you not open more than four places?

- We open what we have the opportunity to do and it's about staffing issues.

We cooperate with Region Stockholm, so overall there are more IVA places if needed, says Yvonne Hejdenberg, communications manager at Södertälje Hospital.

Back in reinforcement mode - after a year of pandemic

It has now been a year since the first confirmed covid fall in Södertälje and it is taking its toll on the care staff.

- Of course the medical staff is tired and worn out after having a pandemic for a year, says Yvonne Hejdenberg.
