The nearly 300-page document entitled Finland's Sustainable Growth Program, Preliminary Recovery and Recovery Plan, published earlier this week, contains oven-fresh information on the future of traffic taxation.
Under the heading "Sustainable transport tax reform", it is mentioned, inter alia, that the transport tax reform is intended to affect "citizens and businesses widely".
The document also states that several new taxes are currently under review, including the much talked about mileage tax.

“The transport tax system is already largely based on the taxation of CO2 emissions and tax levels are high.
According to the government program, there is a need to further reduce greenhouse gas emissions from transport, which may require stronger control measures.
At the same time, however, the revenues of the carbon-based tax system will decline in the long run as clean propulsion becomes more common, ”the document states and continues:
“The working group of the Ministry of Finance will issue recommendations for measures on the necessary tax measures to improve the control of traffic emissions and secure the tax base.
The work covers all current transport taxes: fuel tax, car tax, vehicle tax and other transport taxes. ”

"The working group is also looking at possible new taxes, such as km-based taxes."
With regard to the implementation of the tax reform, the oven-fresh sustainable growth program says 15.3.

It is also interesting that the document does not mention anything under the heading 'expected obstacles' in this section.
However, under the same heading, under the heading Fossil-free traffic roadmap, the words “No expected obstacles” have been entered.
