Berlin (dpa / bb) - The alleged murderer of a 15-year-old schoolgirl in Berlin broke his silence before the regional court of the capital and rejected an intention to kill.

At no time did he want or expect the girl's death, the 42-year-old said on Thursday about his defender.

During voluntary sex in the Rummelsburger Bucht, he had "easily choked" the 15-year-old.

Suddenly she stopped moving.

According to the German defendant, he was “horrified”.

The prosecutor assumes that he killed the student on the night of August 5, 2020 after an attempted rape for fear of discovery and prosecution.

He is charged with murder.

The 15-year-old had come from a meeting with friends and happened to meet the man she did not know at an S-Bahn station.

She initially accompanied him voluntarily.

When the trial began six weeks ago, the defendant was silent.

The 42-year-old further explained in his accident version that they had consumed speed, drank beer and then "stroked and kissed each other".

His "slight choking" was "part of the love game" for him.

He was shocked when she stopped moving.

"I pulled them into the bushes and put twigs over them."

He felt sorry for the girl and the family.

According to the public prosecutor's office, the accused has already appeared under criminal law many times.

In 2001 he was acquitted in a rape trial for incapacity due to illness, but was placed in a psychiatric hospital.

In 2014, he was classified as no longer dangerous in an expert opinion and was released.

At the beginning of the trial, the co-prosecution attorneys had announced that it should also be clarified why the man was "free and uncontrolled".

The defense lawyer said on the 13th day of the trial that the cause of death may have been an epileptic seizure that the 15-year-old could have suffered.

An expert opinion should be obtained on this question.

The trial will continue on March 23rd.
