Meppen / Papenburg (dpa / lni) - Due to a high incidence value, the authorities have issued stricter corona rules for the city of Papenburg.

The district of Emsland announced on Thursday in Meppen that the city will be subject to a night curfew and restrictions on retail, recreational sports and schools from Saturday up to and including April 11th.

In the past few days, the value of 200 new infections with corona per 100,000 inhabitants was exceeded within seven days.

The people in Papenburg are now no longer allowed to leave their apartments easily between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m.

However, there are numerous exceptions, for example for visits to partners, for professional or medical reasons and also for the care of animals.

One of the sources of infection was recently the cruise ship builder Meyer Werft with corona cases in the core workforce, with suppliers and service providers.

The tests at the shipyard and their service providers have been expanded, said District Administrator Marc-André Burgdorf (CDU).

Further agreements with the shipyard are in preparation.

The infection process in Papenburg is diffuse, said Burgdorf.

The ban on going out is suitable to prevent further infections with the corona virus.
