March 18, 2021 Today is the first National Day in memory of the victims of the Covid-19 epidemic, as established by the Parliament by law, from this year March 18 becomes the date to commemorate the more than 100,000 Italians who lost their lives for the COVID-19.

The Prime Minister, Mario Draghi, is expected in Bergamo, a symbolic city in the first wave of last year.

In the memory of the town, the image of the military trucks that carried the coffin of deceased citizens out of the city remains indelible.



At 11 am a wreath of flowers will be placed in the monumental cemetery of the city.

At 11.15 am, at the Martin Lutero alla Trucca Park, the inauguration of the Bosco della Memoria will take place with the ceremony for the planting of the first 100 trees.

Greetings and institutional interventions are expected during the commemoration.

The president of Anci, Antonio Decaro, sent a letter to all the Italian mayors asking them to participate with a minute of silence to be observed at 11, coinciding with the arrival in Bergamo of the prime minister, in the presence of the Italian flag in the middle auction.



In the Senate a minute of silence and flags at half mast


On the initiative of the President of the Senate Maria Elisabetta Alberti Casellati, on March 18 the presidents of the commissions will respect a minute of silence at the beginning of parliamentary activities in memory of the victims of the Covid pandemic .

The Senate will hold the flags at half mast and all employees will respect a moment of silence at 12 noon.
