Erfurt (dpa / th) - According to a recent survey, the Thuringian CDU has lost popularity.

It only comes to 19 percent, as the survey published on Thursday by the opinion research institute Insa on behalf of Funke Medien Thuringia shows.

1,036 eligible voters were asked which party they would choose if the state elections were to take place next Sunday.

Accordingly, the CDU would land again in third place - behind the AfD, which would come to 23 percent.

The CDU's poll rating is also below its result in the state elections in autumn 2019, when it won 21.7 percent of the vote and achieved its worst result to date.

The union is currently nationwide and also in Thuringia because of controversial deals of individual members of parliament with masks in the criticism.

The Insa survey confirms what has already been seen in numerous surveys by other institutes: In Thuringia, there could be complicated majority relationships again.

Because according to the survey, a red-red-green alliance would probably still not have a majority of its own: The left came to 30 percent in the survey, the SPD to 9 percent and the Greens to 8 percent.

Together, the left, the SPD and the Greens would have 47 percent.

The FDP would be safe in the state parliament and could improve slightly with 6 percent compared to its result in the state election.
