Gosheim (dpa / lsw) - The mechanical engineering company Hermle recorded a sharp decline in sales in the 2020 financial year.

The turnover of the company based in Gosheim (Tuttlingen district) fell to 296 million euros after 463 million euros in the previous year, as a spokesman announced on Wednesday.

Earnings before interest and taxes (EBIT) halved from 114.2 million euros in 2019 to 54 million euros.

Hermle did not initially provide any information on net profit.

According to the company, the reasons for the sharp decline in sales are the effects of the corona pandemic and structural change in the automotive industry.

The manufacturer of milling machines had already expected major sales losses as a result of the pandemic.

According to the company, the listed Hermle Group employs around 1,300 people.
