The Robert Koch Institute (RKI) reported 85.1 new infections per 100,000 inhabitants within a week on Wednesday morning.

A value of 82.9 was reported on Tuesday and 81.2 on Monday.

With 2808 new infections within one day, the health authorities reported significantly more cases than for Tuesday (1256 cases).

39 other deaths were recorded related to the virus.

In NRW there are currently 14 districts and urban districts above the threshold of 100. The front runners are Herne and the Märkische Kreis, both with an incidence of 158.5.

Particularly high new infection values ​​were also reported for the district of Düren (131.5), Wuppertal (123.6) and Duisburg (122.1).

The RKI showed 104.1 for the largest city in North Rhine-Westphalia, Cologne.

The state capital Düsseldorf came to 61.6 - and Dortmund, the third largest city in North Rhine-Westphalia, had an incidence of 78.

The lowest values ​​were found in Euskirchen (32), the district of Höxter (38.5) and Bielefeld (39.5).

The NRW Corona Protection Ordinance, which was drawn up after the resolutions of the Ministerial Presidents' Conference, provides that regions with an incidence “sustainably and significantly” above a value of 100 should examine tightening of containment measures and coordinate with the ministry.
