Auckland (AP) - The sailors from New Zealand have won the 36th America's Cup.

The defending champions took the decisive victory and prevailed in their home territory 7: 3 against challengers Italy.

After 1995, 2000 and 2017 it is the fourth cup triumph for the Emirates Team New Zealand with helmsman Peter Burling.

In race ten, New Zealand's “Te Rehutai” crossed the finish line in Waitemata Harbor off Auckland, 46 seconds ahead of “Luna Rossa” with co-helmsmen Francesco Bruni (Palermo) and Jimmy Spithill (Sydney).

Italy also had to admit defeat by racing team owner Patrizio Bertelli in the sixth attempt.
