Cologne (dpa) - According to the commissioned criminal lawyer Björn Gercke, the new report on how the Archdiocese of Cologne deals with sexual abuse is already with the public prosecutor's office.

"The public prosecutor's office received the report from us a few days ago so that they also have time to prepare for it in peace - in front of the public," said Gercke on Wednesday in the "WDR local time" from Cologne.

That was a concern of his own.

The public prosecutor is the competent authority for prosecuting criminal offenses.

The report is to be presented to the public on Thursday.

The Cologne Cardinal Rainer Maria Woelki had commissioned Gercke to do this.

Woelki had not published an initial report;

he raised legal concerns about it.

The Cologne public prosecutor's office has had the first report for a long time.

The evaluation has not yet been completed, but so far no evidence for criminal investigations has been found: the acts were too long ago, said a spokesman for the public prosecutor.

Even with Cardinal Woelki personally, the public prosecutor does not see any criminally relevant behavior.
