Munich (dpa / lby) - Regardless of the current stop of the corona vaccinations with the Astrazeneca preparation, the Ministry of Health expects further deliveries for the time being.

From the beginning of March to the beginning of April, a total of 660,000 Astrazeneca vaccine doses were announced.

"Of these, 309,600 vaccination doses have already been delivered, while the delivery of the remaining 350,400 vaccination doses is still imminent by the 13th calendar week," said the ministry in Munich on request.

Germany and several other EU countries have suspended vaccinations with the Astrazeneca vaccine for the time being, the reason being reports of a possible connection with cerebral vein thrombosis in isolated cases.

The European Medicines Agency (EMA) should decide on Thursday how to proceed.

The speed of vaccinations in Bavaria had meanwhile increased.

In the past week, according to the Ministry of Health, there were an average of almost 41,300 daily vaccinations, almost 5,000 more per day than in the previous week.

Should Astrazeneca no longer be allowed to be used in the EU, this would mean a significant setback for the vaccination campaign, which is already slow compared to the UK or the USA.

The British-Swedish company was expected to contribute more than a third of the vaccine deliveries expected in Bavaria in the 9th to the 13th calendar week.

By Tuesday evening, a total of 1.66 million vaccine doses had been administered in Bavaria, the majority of which - almost 1.3 million - with the Biontech Pfizer preparation.

According to the Robert Koch Institute in Bavaria, Astrazeneca had used a good 285,700 cans.
