The expulsion of a lawyer from Nice, last week, by the president of the Aix-en-Provence criminal court, rebounded from the highest peak of the government.

Prime Minister Jean Castex will indeed seize the General Inspectorate of Justice.

"The conclusions [of the inspection] will have to be submitted in a fortnight at the latest" and will have to allow "to understand the chain of events", detailed Gabriel Attal, the spokesman of the government, this Tuesday.

Gatherings this Wednesday

Me Paul Sollacaro was expelled Thursday during the trial of eleven defendants in a drug trafficking case.

His client having tested positive for Covid-19, the lawyer had requested the severance of his case.

A request rejected by the president of the tribunal Marc Rivet.

After heated discussions, the latter had requested the intervention of the police to get out Mr. Paul Sollacaro, who lodged a complaint for "aggravated violence".

“We can only deeply regret the existence of tensions which contrast with the serenity that justice needs as well as with the necessary collaboration of magistrates and lawyers in the work of justice, reacted Gabriel Attal.

We therefore hope that calm returns and that magistrates and lawyers continue to work on a daily basis in the understanding of and respect for the skills and missions of each.

"

Faced with the "seriousness" of the expulsion of their colleague, several unions and associations of lawyers are calling for rallies throughout France on Wednesday at 2 pm.
