According to P4, a district court in Oulu, Finland, announced on Monday that the battery company had been declared bankrupt.
Battery waste remains at sites in the municipalities of Eskilstuna, Örebro and Karlskoga.
In total, there are almost 2000 tonnes of battery masses at the various locations.
It was at the end of 2019 that the battery scandal was discovered.
Eskilstuna municipality has previously requested that Urecycle ensure that the black masses are removed from an industrial site on the outskirts of Eskilstuna.
