Berlin (dpa) - The Berlin State Opera Unter den Linden has canceled all regular performances until the end of April.

According to an email from the State Opera on Tuesday, the opera would have to cease performances up to and including April 30 after coordination between the artistic directors and the responsible senate administration.

"We focus all our energy on May and hope to see our audience again this season."

The performance of Mozart's “Le nozze di Figaro” on April 2nd under the musical direction of Daniel Barenboim as part of a pilot project for several Berlin theaters with a tested audience is not affected.

Nine events are planned from this Friday to the beginning of April.
