It is said that there are still many cases of maternal placenta being traded in the black market in China for use as medicinal herbs.

According to Chinese media such as Peng Pai and China Central (CC) TV on the 16th, these media reported on various issues such as placenta transactions and lamb meat administered with growth promoters on the 15th, the Consumer's Day.

Pungpai quoted an industry insider, saying that brokers buy placenta discarded in hospitals or medical waste treatment facilities for about 80 yuan (about 14,000 won) each, process it into medicinal materials, etc., and sell them for hundreds of yuan in stores.

In 2005, the Chinese government said it would ban placenta commercial transactions.

However, there are no explicit laws and regulations related to this, and it is reported that placenta transactions are active in Anhui, Jiangsu, and Henan provinces.

One vendor told Pungpai, "There are 20 fresh placenta for mothers who gave birth the day before, and they cost 150 yuan each (about 26,000 won). We can supply 500 each month," Pungpai told Pungpai.

The placenta may contain various bacteria such as human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), hepatitis B, and syphilis.

However, one processor replied, "We can only guarantee that the dried placenta is genuine, and we cannot guarantee what specifically is contained in the placenta."

The state media Global Times reported that placenta is also being traded on online platforms such as'Shenyu', a second-hand trading market affiliated with Alibaba.

Another vendor also said, "(from a broker), you buy placenta for 2,000 yuan per kilogram (about 348,000 won)," and said, "360 yuan per piece (about 62,000 won), but if you buy a lot, you can get a discount." I also did it.

One obstetrician said, "Currently, in Chinese hospitals, the placenta is returned if the mother wants it, and if not, it is disposed of as medical waste. Many mothers take the placenta home and eat it."

The Global Times explains that in China, the placenta is recognized as healthy and rich in nutrients, mainly among the elderly, and there is also a business that makes powder in the form of capsules for those who are reluctant to eat directly, according to the Global Times.

In this regard, a lawyer said, "In China, placenta transactions are punished by regulations related to medical waste, and there are many cases where fines are paid less than five times the illegal gain," he said. "There is a need to increase the intensity of punishment."

On the other hand, CCTV raised the issue of lamb meat using'lean meat growth promoter' in the special program '3·15 Wanhui'.

Some farmers in Changzhou, the center of sheep breeding in Hebei Province, secretly mixed their feed with a'lean meat growth accelerator' to increase the percentage of sheep's lean meat. Is coming.

The brokerage is said to have avoided the inspection during the sales process by mixing several sheep that have not been fed growth promoters in the sheep transport vehicle and having them inspected.

CCTV criticized that the sheep were inspected at the slaughterhouse and found that growth promoters were all detected.

Immediately after the broadcast went out, Changzhou authorities arrested the head of the company, said the mutton in question was kept sealed, and that it is tracking a source of lean meat growth promoters.

CCTV also criticized that the parent company has simply heated and extended rebars that have been discarded or that have not passed the certification, and then sold them, and that the work volume per year reached 30,000 tons.

In addition, CCTV has also accused the situation of photographing and analyzing customers by installing facial recognition cameras in various stores, and the fact that resumes are traded for 7 yuan (about 1,200 won) per case on the job search information site.
