The French Ministry of Health said that a new strain of Corona virus was found in the French region of Brittany, adding that the initial analysis did not show that this strain is more dangerous or transmissible than others.
The ministry indicated that the new strain was found in a group of cases at a hospital center in Lanyon, and many of them were not detected by the polymerase chain reaction tests known as PCR.
French officials explained that researchers at the Pasteur Institute for the Sciences of Biology, Microbes, Diseases and Vaccines are investigating whether genetic modifications should be made to discover the new strain, noting at the same time that the discovery of new strains is a natural process where viruses evolve over time to survive, according to what The English version of "France 24" quoted them.
At present, only three types of the new Coronavirus are considered of concern, officials said, namely the British, South African and Brazilian strains.
