Magdeburg (dpa / sa) - The SPD top candidate for the state elections, Katja Pähle, has accused Federal Health Minister Jens Spahn (CDU) of a “chain of wrong decisions” in the fight against pandemics.

As a result and through his communication policy, Spahn had put a strain on the population's trust in the corona policy, Pähle announced on Tuesday.

"The Federal Minister of Health's crisis management threatens to get completely out of hand," criticized the Social Democrat.

Pehle criticized, among other things, the "back and forth with the release of the Astrazeneca vaccine for all age groups and the subsequent delivery restrictions, the unexpected suspension of the use of Astrazeneca and finally the hectic cancellation and postponement of the vaccination summit".

Pehle asked Spahn to clarify the concerns about the Astrazeneca vaccine as soon as possible, to clarify the further treatment of people who have already received their first vaccination with the vaccine and to buy additional vaccines.

Criticism of the Corona policy also came from the Greens on Tuesday, but it was directed against their own state government, more precisely at the coalition partners CDU and SPD.

"It was a mistake to open schools and daycare centers without having created the prerequisites for a pandemic-proof operation and thus endangering everyone's health," said Green top candidate Cornelia Lüddemann on Tuesday.

"Here we need short-term corrections."

Education Minister Marco Tullner (CDU) is responsible for the opening of the schools, while Social Affairs Minister Petra Grimm-Benne (SPD) is responsible for the daycare centers.

The state government decided on Tuesday to suspend compulsory attendance not only in primary schools but also in secondary schools with immediate effect.

Lüddemann welcomed that.
