Rostock (dpa / mv) - 273 new corona infections were reported in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania on Tuesday.

That was 70 more than on Tuesday a week ago, as the State Office for Health and Social Affairs (Lagus) announced (as of 5:00 p.m.).

Five more people died from coronavirus infection, bringing the number of deaths in the country to a total of 816.

The number of new corona infections per 100,000 inhabitants within a week rose slightly by 0.4 to 64.3 compared to the previous day.

A week ago, this value was reportedly nationwide at 62.5.

At 96.6, the seven-day incidence is currently highest in the district of Northwest Mecklenburg, followed by the district of Ludwigslust-Parchim at 91.1 and Western Pomerania-Greifswald with 87.0.

According to Lagus, the value is lowest in the Hanseatic city of Rostock - there it is 19.1.

The Mecklenburg Lake District and Western Pomerania-Rügen are also below the threshold of 50 with 43.0 and 42.3.

The total number of proven corona infections in the northeast is 27 099. 24 055 people are considered to have recovered.

The number of corona patients treated in clinics is currently 231 - four fewer than the day before.

40 corona patients were in intensive care units, seven fewer than on Sunday.

In the northeast, according to Lagus, 119,881 people have so far been vaccinated against the coronavirus, 58,293 have already received the second vaccination.
