The deputy FDP chairman Wolfgang Kubicki sees in Federal Health Minister Jens Spahn and Federal Economics Minister Peter Altmaier (both CDU) the main responsible for the losses of the Union in the state elections on Sunday.

"I can only explain it to myself that the mismanagement during the corona crisis of the federal government, in particular of Mr. Spahn and Mr. Altmaier, is now reflected," said Kubicki in the political talk of the newspaper "Bild".

Spahn and Altmaier would have to think about "how to get the lack of professionalism in the fight against the pandemic under control".

Otherwise the Union threatens “a disastrous result” in the federal election.

FDP General Secretary Volker Wissing put the expectations of a traffic light alliance made up of the Greens, SPD and FDP into perspective.

"The traffic light coalition in Rhineland-Palatinate is not a blueprint for the federal government," said Wissing in a preliminary report in the newspaper "Rheinische Post" (Monday edition).

For the FDP, content is crucial, not play of colors.

"Everyone knows that the FDP is not available for a shift to the left."
