Kassel (dpa / lhe) - SPD politician Andreas Siebert won the district election in the Kassel district.

The previous First District MP came on Sunday after the preliminary final result to 58.9 percent of the vote.

The 50-year-old prevailed against three other candidates, including Andreas Mock from the CDU.

Siebert replaces Uwe Schmidt from the SPD, who has been in office since 2009.

Around 196,000 citizens were eligible to vote in the Kassel district.

The turnout was around 50 percent.
