It is also the slogan chosen by the Guarantor for the protection of personal data for the launch of the contest, open to all, to study solutions that - through the use of

icons, symbols or other graphic solutions

- make the privacy policies simpler, clearer. and above all immediately understandable, so that they are really useful and suitable for the purpose for which they were designed.



The information used by private companies, public bodies, professionals, websites, especially social networks, search engines and tech platforms, in fact, are very often too long, complex and therefore not adequate to respond to their essential function: to inform users about '

use that will be made of their personal data

and, consequently, put them in a position to freely and consciously express any consent to the processing, whether it is marketing, commercial profiling or communication of certain information to third parties.



The guarantor - explains a note from the Authority - "therefore asks developers, professionals, experts, lawyers, designers, university students and anyone interested, to send a set of symbols or icons capable of representing all the elements that, pursuant to articles 13 and 14 of the European Regulation, they must be contained in the information ".



Proposals must be sent

by May 30, 2021

to the specific email address.



The Authority for the protection of personal data, at its sole discretion, will choose the three datasets of symbols and icons that it deems most effective and will make them available on its website to anyone who wants to use them, indicating the name of the author.
