The Secretary-General of Asaib Ahl al-Haq Movement in Iraq, Qais Khazali, said that an Emirati security team recently arrived in the country to manage the affairs of the Iraqi intelligence service, according to sources he described as reliable.

In a tweet on Twitter, Khazali described these developments as part of a dangerous conspiracy against Iraq that threatens the country's future, as he put it.

For his part, the Iraqi Intelligence Service criticized Khazali's statements, describing them as unfair accusations that attempt to harm the reputation of the agency.

And the agency expressed - in a statement - its refusal to involve the Iraqi intelligence services in any political and media controversy.

The Iraqi intelligence service also confirmed that it retains its legal right to prosecute anyone who tries to undermine the dignity of its affiliates, according to the statement.
