The president (Libres!) Of Ile-de-France Valérie Pécresse estimated Monday that her region was "on borrowed time" because of a "very violent third wave" of the Covid and urged Ile-de-France residents to telework more massively to curb the epidemic.

Faced with the hypothesis of a reconfinement, the "Île-de-France is clearly on borrowed time" because "the English variant, the majority, is not only more contagious, it is also more deadly", and "our capacities resuscitation are saturated ", explained on France 2 Ms. Pécresse.

"It is up to the government to decide" but "today, we can no longer exclude anything" and "in terms of responsibility, if the measures are justified, if they are proportionate and accompanied, I will not oppose them", a she added.

"I understand the immense weariness of all French people in the face of this never-ending pandemic but we are the object of a very violent third wave which will take lives and we must slow down", she justified , also asking the government "to accelerate vaccination in all the departments" most affected.

She "urged Ile-de-France residents who may not go to work this week to telework", because "teleworking is not sufficiently practiced today".

"In the fall, there were only 30% of people in transport; today, there are 55%", she regretted.

EELV MEP Yannick Jadot, for his part, estimated on RTL that "today we are losing control of the situation, especially in Ile-de-France".

"I have no opinion at this stage on what type of more stringent measures (it would be necessary to implement, editor's note) since we are not associated with the decisions and we do not have at this stage a complete, serious evaluation "of" the impact of confinements at the weekend ", regretted the potential presidential candidate of 2022.

Asked about the possibility of confining the weekend more widely, however, he felt that "if we have to get there, we must get there", even if "no one wants to be confined".
