Stuttgart (dpa / lsw) - After the labor courts, all Baden-Württemberg regional courts in civil proceedings have now been completely converted to electronic file management.

From this Wednesday on, all newly incoming civil proceedings, even at the state's largest regional court in Stuttgart, will no longer be in paper files, but only electronically, said Justice Minister Guido Wolf (CDU) on Monday.

"Mountains of files, dusty filing cabinets and rolling filing trolleys will soon be a thing of the past in Stuttgart."

"In the future, around 18,000 complaints per year will be processed completely digitally," announced the President of the Stuttgart Regional Court, Andreas Singer.

The 120 civil judges had been equipped with laptops and two screens per workplace.

Judgments and other court decisions would no longer be signed by hand on paper, but would be electronically signed.

In addition, the 31 civil meeting rooms have been equipped with large screens.

"Images from the files, accident sketches or reports could be visualized so comfortably for those involved in the proceedings," he said.

The electronic documents were also easier to search.

By 2026 at the latest, all courts nationwide must be equipped with the electronic file.

Gradually, the paper file is to be abolished.

Baden-Württemberg is a nationwide pioneer in the introduction of electronic court files.

According to the Ministry of Justice, more than 50 courts in Baden-Württemberg have so far been equipped with the electronic file.
