Around 400 people work in the AstraZeneca factory in the small town of West Chester.

In the two-story factory on the outskirts of the 60,000-inhabitant city, the group fills its corona vaccine and packages it for sale.

In the meantime, around 30 million vaccine doses of the manufacturer are said to be stored at the location in the US state of Ohio, as the "New York Times" recently reported.

At a location in the state of Baltimore, vaccine for tens of millions more doses is stored again.

But the AstraZeneca vaccine is still many weeks away from approval in the US - and the country probably won't need the vaccine at all.

For Europe, however, AstraZeneca had new bad news on Friday evening.

Only 100 million vaccine doses should be delivered to the EU by the middle of the year.

That is less than half of the 220 million cans that have been promised to date.

Thuringia announced on Saturday that it would therefore no longer be able to assign vaccination appointments until further notice.
