Mainz (AP) - Prime Minister Malu Dreyer's SPD clearly won the state elections in Rhineland-Palatinate on Sunday.

According to the preliminary result on the website of the regional returning officer, she received 35.7 percent of the vote.

The CDU was well behind with 27.7 percent.

It was followed by the Greens with 9.3 percent, AfD with 8.3 percent, FDP with 5.5 percent and the Free Voters with 5.4 percent.
