Boppard (dpa / lrs) - In the mayoral election in Boppard (Rhein-Hunsrück district) none of the three applicants could prevail in the first ballot.
The SPD candidate Niko Neuser received the most votes with 39 percent.
He competes in the runoff election against Jörg Haseneier (CDU), who got 36.2 percent of the vote on Sunday.
The turnout was 65.6 percent.
The incumbent Walter Bersch had not started because he had exceeded the age limit.
