March 14, 2021 "The world will no longer be the same as it was before". This is what Pope Francis says to La Stampa, who proposes some passages from the new book by the pontiff, in a conversation with Domenico Agasso, a Vatican expert on the newspaper.

"The way to the salvation of humanity passes through the rethinking of a new model of development", says the Pontiff who hopes for an "economic turn towards green".

In his opinion "by changing the lifestyles that force millions of people, especially children, into the grip of hunger, we will be able to lead a more austere existence that would make possible an equitable distribution of resources".

What do you expect from the rulers?

"Now it is a question of rebuilding from the rubble", the Pope replies, who then adds: "But each of us, not just the rulers, is called to eradicate indifference, corruption and connivance with delinquency".

"It is time to remove social injustices and marginalization," he urges.

Speaking of finance, he says: "If we can heal it from the dominant speculative mentality and re-establish it 'with a soul', according to criteria of fairness, we can aim to reduce the gap between those who have access to credit and those who don't" .

For Pope Francis "it is no longer bearable that weapons continue to be manufactured and trafficked, spending huge capital that should be used to heal people, save lives".

A thought also to women, who must not be "discriminated against in terms of pay and professionalism, or with the loss of their jobs as women. On the contrary".

The pontiff advises young people to "not give up in the unfavorable situation. Not to stop daydreaming".
