Wittmund (dpa / lni) - An 80-year-old man was critically injured in a fire in a single-family house in Wittmund.
A police spokesman said on Sunday evening that he had suffered smoke inhalation and was taken to a hospital by helicopter.
His 76-year-old wife was moderately injured in the fire.
According to the information, the rescue workers had been called to a kitchen fire in the afternoon.
According to initial findings, the cause of the fire was the stove, the spokesman said.
The flames could be extinguished quickly.
