Berlin (AP) - FDP leader Christian Lindner sees his party strongly strengthened by the state elections in Baden-Württemberg and Rhineland-Palatinate.

The FDP had "gained more and more traction," said Lindner on Sunday evening in the FDP party headquarters.

"Our issues of economic recovery, civil rights in times of the pandemic, the great restrictions on freedom, the elimination of the digital deficits in the state, in the administration to the schools, all of this is on people's minds," said Lindner.

If there had been an election in 14 days, the results might be “even better,” he said.

Lindner affirmed: "The FDP is ready to take on government responsibility, if we can implement content."
