First a little color theory.

The German parties all have their own color.

Social Democrats, red.

Green Party, green.

Liberal Party (FDP), yellow.

Christian Democrats (CDU), black.

And so on.

For 16 years it has been black-something, either black-red or black-yellow.

It may turn black-green after the election this autumn.

Unless voters are tired of black and make another color mix possible.

In both states that had elections this weekend, a red-yellow-green government is now possible, ie a traffic light control.

The Social Democrats' red headquarters in Berlin are watering.

It shows that it is possible to govern Germany without the CDU, the party's top candidate Olaf Scholz repeats with a smile again and again during election night.

The CDU's worst two elections in history

In the Christian Democrats' black headquarters, it is at the moment, yes, black.

The party has just made its worst two choices in history.

It is very bad for the new party leader Armin Laschet, who has to start the super election year uphill as a loser.

But even worse for him would be if the dream / nightmare if the traffic light starts to get wings in the spring.

So far, the numbers are not enough for a traffic light in Berlin.

And in addition, it is highly unclear whether the three parties, red-yellow-green, would really thrive together.

But the super election year has just started and in September it is the German voters who hold the brush and choose which colors the future should be best painted in.
